Bookmobile

The Bookmobile will visit DMS, All students will participate in the bookmobile visit. 3-6 students can check out books on the school’s card to stay in the classroom. Elementary students can check out books on their own card. Remember to bring them back to return on Bookmobile days. Books can also be returned to any Dayton Metro Library location.

Picture Day

Ana Corsmeier of Prima Vista Photography will be taking our portraits again this year. Photos will be outside on our beautiful grounds. Photos are taken early in the day. If students choose to wear special clothes for photos, they are welcome to bring regular school clothes to change into after. In case of inclement weather the rain date will be October 6.

Parent Workshop- Montessori 101 and Montessori at Home

Parent Workshop- Montessori 101 and Montessori at Home

What is Montessori education? Learn what the core principles of the Montessori philosophy and what makes an authentic Montessori school. Explore the science behind it and how to explain it to friends and family. We will also explore how to implement Montessori in your home environment for each plane of development to encourage independence, responsibility, self motivation, and learning through doing.
This workshop is open to the community but is for adults and babies in arms only. Childcare will be provided for currently enrolled students only. Please RSVP in advance for childcare.  Please RSVP by replying to this email or emailing beverley@daytonmontessori.org.  Please include the number of adults attending the workshop and the number of students attending childcare.

Please share with any families who may be interested in our school.  Workshops are a great way to get to know our school.

DMS Students will be preforming a winter concert at the Dayton Metro Library- Huber Heights Branch. The performance time will be 5:00.  Elementary students who are preforming must arrive ready to warm-up at 4:15. 3-6 students can arrive for the performance at 5 and sit with their families until invited to join us on stage.

Learn what Montessori education is for the elementary-aged child.   We will discuss the shift in development children make when they enter the elementary years and how the Montessori classroom is designed to help them reach their full potential.  We will discuss "cosmic education," the cornerstone of the elementary curriculum, and what the elementary school day is like.

Interest Fair

Please join us as our oldest students present their Interest Fair Projects. The students have been researching, writing, creating, and preparing for months about a topic of their choice. Come see their boards and projects and hear their speeches. All students, families, and alumni are encouraged to come see their fellow students’ work and to cheer them on.

Elementary Music Performance and North and South America Fair

Families are invited to join the Lower Elementary Class for their celebration of North and South America. Lower and Upper Elementary Students will preform vocal and drumming pieces and Lower Elementary will present their research about a country they have studies.

Students who are performing will stay at school. Families will arrive at 3:45 to enjoy the music performance and then see our research presentations.
